An early Norman Castle in part of the 18th and 19th centuries acted as the city prison. The chapel's coffin-like pews served to remind felons of their fate. Each prisoner was enclosed and could only see the preacher during a service. What is the name of that castle in England?

Yes Ruth, it was Lincoln Castle.Well done.

Keeping the prisoners in isolation ended in 1878 and the prisoners were transferred to a new jail.
