Sorry for the delay folks I've been a bit busy.

So here we go, I am two words (there is a "The" at the beginning but I'm not counting that) -

The first word is made up of an English County and a body of water. 

The second word is made up of the name of an animal and an item of clothing.

You can walk me, what is my name, where am I, and how long am I ? 

Having pretty much established the HORSESHOE was the second word I started looking at my maps and struggled a bit until I remembered that the River KENT runs through Kendal, so the answer hit me from there for 2 reasons. Firstly many years ago I used to use KENTMERE paper in my darkroom for printing black and white photographs. But more to the point because about 8-9 miles north west of Kendal upstream of the River KENT is the village of KENTMERE (which incidentally is about 5-6 miles east of Ambleside, as the crow flies) so that makes the answer THE KENTMERE HORSESHOE which having got my walking books out is a circular walk north of Kentmere village taking in one or two  good hills and fells the length being appr 12 miles that is19 km for any of our younger viewers who dont understand proper measurements
