Well today is St Swithins Day, so the weather bodes well for the next forty days.

St Swithin's day if thou dost rain, for forty days it will remain

St Swithin's day if thou be fair, for forty days 'twill rain nae mair

It has stayed lovely and dry here today.

We've had roast dinner at lunchtime and I've spent some time out in the garden having a general tidy up and trimming my bushes.

And what is it with snails this year?  I seem to be infested with them and I hate the little blighters. Anyone else got this problem?

Starting to cloud over a little now, but still lovely and warm which makes a pleasant change.

Hope you're all having a chilled one.Cool

Enjoy Illinois Julie and budnle up i fyour planning an staying there during this winter.

I had roast beef out at my duaghter in-law's house the other day, but just an taste of it. Got to be careful with it as it's very fattening with the gravy in it.

Yep Rick..time to kick back for an bit...relax.

Tell anna I thought rainy days made for the laundry hanging on lines all over int the house...if your lucky an garage does fine though. I was noticing how expensive the new ones that fold up/down in your bathtub are these days also.  I use to have an old wooden rack one that I'd set up in the garage over winter for gloves, hats and coats to dry out for all the kids. Esp. when they quit playing in the snow and would come in for hot chocolate and get warmed up an bit. Got myhubby one year an boot dryer. That worked pretty well also. He'd put his in his boots and set them by the woodstove so the outsidecould dry also...now a days though, he's seldom out in that kind of weather.....with his computer job in the office building. .Me, I take one look and like my cats say...NO WAY!...I'm not going out in that weather...one reason an "pantry" is an necessity around this house also. I should get back to it so by this fall it's all ready for next Spring. Not eating like we use to these days...eat less meat all the time. Make less also without the kids being here.

Guys...I went to Mt. Hood yesterday and what takes my eye but "Grouse Street"....across the street from one of my faviroite little restruarants up there and it was full to the brim with customers. Was thinking of POE ...that's for sure... as we went by. .Do we have any POE drinking glasses?...just wondering. You can't get better Wild Alaskan Salmon then that restruant...they poach it in white wine and set it on Basami Rice with Miso...or did last time I was there. Kind of an expenisve little place but top notch chef's. by the time you get to thier Raspberry Chocolate dessert with the Raspberry liquor in it...your feeling very pleasantly "looped" to say it mildly..but an excellent place to dine. Watching my neighbors go to church this morning...as they do every Sunday morning.
