Thames Water Authority says 'there will be a hosepipe ban'. Shame On You!

How disgraceful is this? With all the b....y rain that we get here in England they have the cheek to tell us there will be a ban in place shortly. I suggest one of the problems is probably due to their own lack of ability to attend to leaks as and when requested.

I have a mate who owns a farm, where the pipework fractured two weeks ago. He called Thames Water who informed him that they would be able to attend on 18th March. Since then the land has flooded big time, two ponds have been filled like never before, and still they won't come out to resolve the problem.

Tens of thousands of gallons of water down the swanee (literally) and they don't give a s..t! It's still flowing as we discuss it, b....y shame on you Thames Water!

Oh by the way, I think China currently owns some 50% of the company. Is there anything left in England that isn't owned by a non Brit?

Sometimes we feel that way also...isn't it amazing how our politicans for an pocket full of coins will sell us down the drain so easy these days. 

I admit to getting it wrong members, sorry about that. The date that they offered to come out to the farm is the 28th March not the 18th....only ANOTHER 9 days to go!

Forgot to ask them if they mean 2012...

A billion litres of water wasted through leakage EVERY DAY apparently, fat dividends for the shareholders, increased charges for the homeowner and a hosepipe ban possibly until Christmas!

Why, oh why, do we put up with this nonsense and who else would let them get away with it?

Incidentally after the above 'leak' referred to at my mates farm, they arrived eventually (a month later) and said 'ah, thats not our problem, you'll have to fix that'. And after it all they couldn't even find an account to bill him the water lost, so now its free.......maybe!

Personally I think its a disgrace and if its happening to one, its happening elswhere!! No wonder our bills continue to rise...

Now they want us to take 4 minutes in the shower, instead of 7 minutes!

Wonder why they don't take 5 minutes to consider their own shower?

Four minutes in the shower? I tried it a couple times since the above post and I can tell you that you need to be a b....y athlete to get done in that time!

Like I said above, the only shower that needs sorting is the people that run this company called Thames Water!

Water shortage? Just heard on the News that rivers are about to burst their banks in Dorset!

Why haven't the water companies addressed these issues, dig the rivers deeper, cleaning them out might be a good start, but build new reservoirs. It's not rocket science is it?

I was listening to the radio last night and at the News a woman was interviewed re the hosepipe ban and the amount of rain we have had, are are still getting, and for that matter what is still forecast!

The question was; "Do we still need the hosepipe ban, haven't we had enough rain?"

She replied "The rain will be good for the gardens and farmers, but the rivers, reservoirs are nowhere near full and we will need the hosepipe ban in place at least until Summer, providing it continues to rain".

How come, asked the journalist............now wait for it dear friends, she replied "It's the wrong type of rain".

How can an answer like that be justified? Rain is rain, is rain, and ultimately it will soak into everything and eventually find its way into the rivers and so on...

Maybe companies like Thames Water are not geared up to 'harvest' the rain, and that wouldn't surprise me, but the wrong type of rain? It's a joke surely?

Well I can tell you now that after Thames Water said they didn't have an account for my mates farm/smallholding they sent him a bill on Saturday asking for £769.00 per month (Payment Plan) for water used, and the estimated bill for next year is £9,000!! Yes £9,000.00

He is 80 plus years of age and had to be attended by a medic after opening the envelope, such was the shock. I have now got  a battle on my hands to get it sorted for him because this was the property where he reported a leak (recorded above) where they came out a month later and said "it's nothing to do with us" and left the premise.

My mate fixed the leak himself (on his neighbours land) but too late, he lost his few chickens and a couple of pigs, because he couldn't get water to them. In the meantime two nearby ponds were filled as the water found its own level!

Despite my calling Thames Water on his behalf they insisted he didn't have an account with them and suggested I called other water companies (I did) and guess what, they didn't have a record either and even went so far as to say "the land isn't in our area" so back to Thames Water who still insisted we have no record of an account at that address.

So Thames Water what is this bill all about? You have questions to answer on Monday! This is b....y disgraceful.
