Thanks Ruth.  I enjoyed seeing these leathery winged creatures in your pictures.  My neighbour from a few doors along the street loves them.  Of course they're protected by law, but he says that even if they weren't he'd not disturb them.  Better than another village man who, at the time of his death had a whole shed full of owls, none of which were able to look after themselves because they had been kep captive for so long.  They had to be taken into the care of the RSPB as otherwise they would have very quickly died if released into the wild.  It's a terrible thing when we impose ourselves upon the natural order of things.

Hi Alan:  Yes, I agree, especially when people feed wildlife.  Sometimes they end up killing them with kindness.

I don't know if this link has already be put in here but here it is again for those who may have not seen it. It's about a Heron called Dude and his adopted 'Mum' called Gary.

I read the BBC news every day over here and have no problems.

Looks like Dude really likes his food; he certainly wouldn't fly very far without his inticement.

Thanks for the link Lyn.

Seen during my lunchtime on the back deck. A pair of White Breasted Sea Eagles soaring high over the local area, so effortless and gracefull .

Oh POE, Jays are one of the birds I HAVE to see when I come over. I'm so excited you got to see one in the garden, as they are fairly shy birds and don't visit often.

And Wolf, WOW! What a sight. You lucky devil, you.

On my way home from work over the past few days, there's been a lot of birds lined up on the overhead electricity cables, it reminded me of this cartoon I saw a while ago, and makes me laugh everytime I see it lol
