We spent our honeymoon in Ambleside in the Lakes. It was during the 1986 World Cup, and as we are both big footy fans it was a dream come true. (Please - no jokes abour 'scoring' or being sent off for misconduct Wink) The weather was glorious and ever since we have considered Ambleside to be 'our place' - even though we now live in a very beautiful area. Any more POE'ers have an English Honeymoon?

Oh yes, my husband and I spent our honeymoon at The White Hart in Ford, Wiltshire, which is the next village over to Castle Combe.

It was late October 1984, the weather was perfect, the leaves on the trees were well into their Autumn glory and when we were kicked out of our room by the cleaners, we went for long walks around the beautiful countyside.

We have been back several times, the last time was for our 20th anniversary in 2004.

No I didn`t have a honeymoon in England but I did go to England for my 20th Wedding Anniversary and I didn`t have a honeymoon (maybe it`s just a belated honeymoon). But I have to say it was a trill of a lifetime. I`m still thanking my husband for that trip.

Hi Mick

Bridlington - The Star Hotel. Owner Mrs Crettendon gave my wife a whisky just before we went to bed! Can't think why, I didn't get anything!!

My parents paid for it, great time, great girl some 42 years later!
