Having met the men of the Ghurka Regiment a few times over the last few years at our Remembrance Sunday Ceremony (and afterwards for something to wash the dust from the back of the throat) I consider them as good friends, so when 'our' government picks on them I tend to take it a mite seriously.  In the Falklands it was largely due to their bravery that we kicked the Argies off the island.

For the villages they come from in Nepal it is considered a great honour to have a son in the regiment, and everyone in the village considers them as their own family (related or not) because of the honour it brings to the village as a whole

It's a terrible commentary on Britain today (I left the Great out on purpose) that we can take in crooks and terrorists from all over the world, yet cannot find a home for our bravest and truest friends to show our gratitude for all they have done for us.

Nice to see the judge seemed to agree.  We don't have many good judges, but this one can be Lord Chief Justice as far as I'm concerned..

I think it's fair to say that we POE members (those who have commented anyway) support Joanna Lumley and the Gurkhas! Thank you, please consider signing the petition at http://www.gurkhajustice.org.uk/ members - lets add the power of POE! And thanks Lyn B for directing us to the url above.

I love Ab Fab. Joanna Lumleys father served with the Ghurkhas for 30 years, she is really involved with this issue, she went on a march with them a couple of weeks ago in London to highlight their fight for the right to stay in Britain and for better army pensions.
