I kid you not....(so shut up Peter and Ron)...my mother was a Fary....well her maiden name was anyway! The family originated in Hertfordshire as best we can tell so far and I was wondering if anyone knew someone with this surname?????

Could be a relation...there are various spellings 'cos in the early 1800's there was no specific spelling of names etc....everyone out here with Fary is related to the one guy who got transported for life in 1826 for stealing 2 whethers. He came from Preston south of Hitchin...hence my visit in June Smile

This is no joke Lyn...I've just discovered a web site that clearly links my Fary's to all Fairey's/Fairy's/Farey's/Feary's in and around Hitchin/Preston etc Surprised I'm a little gob smacked (& teary) at present.

It seems that the Fairey's are originally from Great Barford Beds and go back to 1660!

All I can say is I've had a wonderful surprise tonight and am now going to bed...I need sleep Smile
