Glencoe House has a rich heritage and was built in 1896 by Lord Strathcona for his wife, Isabella. He was born in Scotland but made his fortunes in Canada rising to the governor of the Hudson Bay Company and also famously instigated the building of the Canadian Pacific railway. The significance of Glencoe House extends to its famous architect, Sir Robert Rowand Anderson. Amongst his achievement was his work on the Royal Residence for Balmoral Castle.
