It is said that this particular airfield is the most in intact World War 2 airfield in the whole of the UK. The road curves to the right, but originally curved to the left where a narrow footpath can just be seen. Air raid shelters are numerous, but now inhabited only by bats. Hidden pill-boxes that could, at one time, rise up from the grass at the side of the landing strips can also still be seen.
