A picture of Shrewsbury
Floods at Shrewsbury (Shropshire) This is the floodwater backing up the old route of the River Severn; before the ice age it seems the Severn flowed north of the town, afterwards it formed a loop around the town. If there are floods then the old route makes itself strongly felt again, with water extending well to the north of the town.
