St Thomas Church at Heights Lane, Friarmere

A simple mid 18th century Church on a hillside overlooking Delph. The Church was built beginning in 1765 probably using the labour of the parishioners who dubbed it 'Heights Chapel'. It was intended as a chapel of ease for parishioners unable to travel to the Parish Church at Saddleworth.

Lovely little church. And thank you for adding the history too. I really enjoy that as it completes a picture.

This Church was also featured the the BBC television 2008 series 'Survivors'series It depicts the lives of a group of people who survived a virulent strain of heretofore unknown influenza which has wiped out most of the human race. According to the producers, the series is not a remake of the popular 1970s BBC television series Survivors (1975–1977), created by Terry Nation
