The fabric of the building is mainly Norman with the entrance being in the base of the tower. In 1845 Archdeacon Stonehouse said "Owmby Church is an old ruinous fabric held together by the lead covering the roof". Unfortunately the beams and rafters supporting the lead became ravaged by woodworm and in 1939 the roof collapsed. The replacement roof (replaced again in 2000) was one of many renovations needed over the years A picture of: Owmby-by-Spital Photograph taken with a Canon Canon PowerShot A540 This picture also appears in the following picture tour: pictures by this user user contact user profile use picture in website or blog Add a comment...Please login to make a comment on this picture © 2001-2008 Pictures of England.com - All rights reserved - Terms & Conditions - Free Pictures |
