Pictures of Old Sarum![]() Submitted by Stephen(20th January 2008)Old Sarum and The Cathedral, Salisbury, Wiltshire The stones mark the foundations of the old cathedral. It was completed in 1190. relations between the clerics and castle guards weren't very good and in in 1219 Bishop Richard Poore decided that enough was enough, and he determined to build a new cathedral at a location several miles to the south. A settlement grew up around the site of the new cathedral, and it is this settlement that is the modern city of Salisbury A picture of: Old Sarum, Salisbury This picture also appears in the following picture tours: pictures by this user user contact user profile use picture in website or blog Add a comment...Please login to make a comment on this picture © 2001-2009 Pictures of England.com - All rights reserved Terms & Conditions - Free Pictures Please support this site |
