About Bowerchalke
This lovely downland village is tucked away on a tributary of the River Ebble in the rolling countryside of the Chalke Valley where the scenery is mostly designated as being of outstanding natural beauty. It is ideal walking country, little lanes take you past fields emblazoned with rich emerald green watercress, being continually fed by tiny, sparkling streams.
Only a few houses populate this pretty place and of the things that bind a village together, school, pub, post-office and church, only the church remains. One would guess by the church records and gravestones that in days of yore it was a popular place to live with a fairly strong community. Now, Bowerchalke continues as a pretty village with spectacular views of rolling downs and their patches of beech wood which are particularly lovely.
The village is within easy reach of Broad Chalke and Tollard Royal, the site of King John's Medieval House.
