About Fulking
Fulking is a small village flourishing amongst the northern slopes of the South Downs. For thousands of years Fulking Downs have been occupied by sheep, this has led to the wildlife rich grassland there today. Some of the hollows of the landscape remain from medieval times when sheep were driven daily onto the Downs from the enclosure pens of farmsteads.
The village with its delightful scattered properties and village inn, appropriately called "The Shepherd and Dog, can be found on the South Downs Way nestling beneath Truleigh Hill (213ft) on its eastern side lies the Devil's Dyke hill-fort. In a northerly direction visitors can find Woods Mill a fascinating area renowned for its wealth of wildlife.
Away from this tranquil location, yet within just a few minutes drive visitors can find all the delights of some of Sussex's most famous resorts, these include Hove, Worthing and Brighton with its historic "Lanes" and magical Brighton Pavilion with its skyline confection of towers and onion shaped domes.
