Pictures of Herrington Country Park![]() Submitted by Roy Jackson(17th May 2008)Unidentified Goose on Herrington Ponds This goose recently arrived on the ponds. In general it has a superficial look of a Canada Goose. However, it is smaller than the canada goose. It has pink instead of black on beak and legs. Could it be a immature bird or a hybrid. Any ideas? Greylags are notorious for breeding with other species, in fact all our domestic geese derive from Greylags. There are many resident breeding flocks of Canada geese in the UK and where they come into contact with Greylags they sometimes breed. This is a great shot, it's very unusual but not unique.
