About Haverhill
This is a predominately Victorian town which was noted for the manufacture of clothing during the 19th century. It still has many restored old weavers cottages, of particular note are the ones in Weavers Row. Visitors will also note several fine Victorian buildings as well as attractive black and white timber-frame properties.
The church dedicated to Saint Mary suffered from the ravages of a fire in 1665, this shows later restoration work and still houses an interesting Elizabethan monument anongst its treasures.
Haverhill offers excellent facilities, good shops, pubs and restaurants, it lies close to the waters of the lively River Stour and is ideally placed for visiting Sudbury, Bury St.Edmunds, Newmarket and Cambridge.
