About Burham-on-Sea

This pleasant seaside resort offers vast expanses of glorious golden sands, making it a paradise for children and sun worshippers alike. It is immensely popular with families who, throughout the summer fill the many caravan sites interspersed throughout the area.

Burnham has a lovely old medieval Church that contains some fine carvings and a famous marble alter-piece designed by Inigo Jones and made by Grinling Gibbons (1648-1720). For many reasons this is a fascinating church and well worth a visit. Close to Burnham is Stert Island, a birdwatchers paradise and home to a variety of of Gulls and other wild birds.

A carnival is held in Burnham each November and there is a regatta in August. The town has good shopping facilities and a market is held at nearby Highbridge. Burnham is popular for sailing and for fishing from the coast.
