About Lamport
Tranquil Northamptonshire village set in fine countryside. Noted for splendid Lamport Hall built in the 17th-century and home of the Isham family for over 400 years. The house has stunning interiors, rooms are lavishly decorated with oil paintings, furniture, silver and porcelain. The High Room has a wonderful plaster-work ceiling and there are fine examples of wood-carving. In a magnificent parkland setting, this beautiful house is well worth a visit. Another reason to visit Lamport is the classic steam railway. Evocative of a more romantic, by-gone era, restored steam trains take you through some of Northamptonshire's most breathtaking scenery on a journey full of interest and wonder. Other attractions in the area include historic Cottesbrooke Hall and the delights of Pitsford Reservoir-sailing, fishing and wildlife.
