About Norwich Castle
This magnificent 13th century castle is one of Norfolk's premier tourist attractions. It was originally built as a Royal palace, but without loss of atmosphere has been transformed to provide a dramatic backdrop for one of England's finest regional collections, where the best of the past is preserved for the enjoyment of the future. The castle has collections concerning natural history, archaeology, and art.
A tour of the castle will reveal to you its deepest secrets, you can see dungeons where prisoners were kept, communal toilets, and walk through the lengthy corridors where prisoners marched towards their chilling fate.
Norwich Castle is also the home of the Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum, in here you can explore what is known as the prisoners' tunnel, giving you a taste of a soldiers life in peace and adversity from late in the 17th century to the present day.
The castle makes a fascinating visit for everyone, from the moment you first set eye's on the beautiful arcading decorating the outside walls of the massive keep, you will fall under its spell, entranced by its history, beauty, and the magic of the views over Norwich.
