The hotel caters for local people, businesses and visitors to the area, and provides excellent service in elegant surroundings. The ground floor was recently extensively redesigned to create a new bar, restaurant, reception and private dining suite. The Phoenix succeeded another famous hotel in Dereham, the King's Arms which stood overlooking the Market Place. It has been said that the Phoenix was so named as it rose like the mythical bird from the ashes of the King's Arms. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a lift.
