Description

Castle Rising Castle -from the Old Norman Church

Stood in the place where an old Norman church once stood we see one side of Castle Rising Castle. The Castle was built by William d'Aubigny ( d'Albini ) 11 for his wife Adeliza of Louvain ( second wife of Henry 1st )around 1140. The Castle later in time became the place where Edward 111 banished his mother Isabella to for many years for her part of the murder of Edward 11 ( some say with a red hot poker in a private place, but this rumour is now in question )
