About Aylesham
Aylesham was built at the early part of the 20th century to provide homes for influx of workers who moved to the area to operate the newly opened collieries.
The village preserves its history, it has several noted buildings from when it was built and a strong community spirit still prevails. Of interest is the beautiful sculpture dedicated to the men who lived in Aylesham and spent their lives working in the mines.
Aylesham lies on the North Downs Way, is close to the lovely cathedral city of Canterbury and is an ideal location for exploring the maritime history of such Kentish coastal towns as Deal, Dover, Folkestone and Hythe.
