About Yarmouth
A lovely old town with a pleasant deepwater harbour. Yarmouth, with its 'olde worlde' charm is definitely one of the jewels of this enchanting island resort.
The summer months see an influx of visitors who enjoy lounging on the waterfront watching an almost endless flotilla of visiting yachts and colourful fishing boats plying in and out of the harbour. Fishing trips can be arranged on the quay front, so too, can coach trips taking you on island tours. For the more energetic, there are pleasant walks from the town taking you in the direction of Tennyson Down and Freshwater Bay. For nature enthusiasts there is the natural environment of the Western Yar to explore, where reedbeds, saltmashes and damp meadows reveal a wealth of flourishing wildlife. There are also interesting cycle tracks and away from it all bridle paths leading through a hinterland of picturesque scenery.
Yarmouth with its unique ambience offers an all round choice of activities to suit all the family. Victoria Country Park is only a short walk from the town - there is a Model Railway, Marine Aquarium, Undersea History Exhibition, Space Exhibition, cafe's and restaurants and a picnic and barbeque area. There are quaint shops, galleries and boutiques, plenty of inns and best of all a pleasant beach for sunbathing! Planning a visit to Yarmouth?
