Pictures of Keyhaven
About Keyhaven
This tiny inlet turns to salt-marsh and mud at low tide. A few centuries ago it was an important port for the salt trade, it is this that brought prosperity to the region.
The village is lovely and peaceful with moorings for boats along the quayside and unrivalled views across to the Isle of Wight and Hurst Castle. It is a noted area for bird watching and for fishing. The village also has the advantage of being located on the Solent Way, a walk stretching mile after mile across beautiful marshes, heathland, riverside villages, coast and through to the great maritime towns of Southampton and Portsmouth.
The area offers an abundance of wildlife, with some of it being a nature reserve. Close-by visitors can enjoy the pleasures of Braxton gardens.
Keyhaven lies between Milford-on-Sea and Lymington, it makes an ideal base for exploring the Solent, Southampton Water or the wilderness beauty of the New Forest National Park.
