Pictures of Westminster![]() Submitted by John Ware(20th December 2008)Lion, Westminster Bridge This is made from Coade Stone, an early artificial stone which is self-cleaning. The formula for it was was a trade secret and has been lost. The statue decorated the now demolished Lion Brewery in Lambeth. It was saved on the wishes of George VI. The lion was made at the Coade Stone Manufactury which was sited in what is now Jubilee Gardens - near Hungerford Bridge not far from the London Eye.
