About Old Baptist chapel
The Old Baptist chapel and Burial ground- A 15th century building opposite the abbey that was used for worship around the time that seperatist beliefs were being persecuted by the state, and the seperatists of that time would use places of worship that were in the guise of private dwellings. The Ancient burial ground at the end of the baptist chapel alley has a memorial to a Thomas Shakespeare Hart, a lineal descendant of John Shakespeare and Mary Ardon of Stratford-upon-Avon, parents of the famous poet William Shakespeare.
