About Hornsea

In these days where almost every other afternoon television show is dedicated to the collection of antiques, it would be difficult not to have heard of Hornsea pottery. It is becoming highly sought after and fetches reasonable prices.

Hornsea, is an old village and hidden behind the narrow streets that are crowded with old cottages, is the beautiful freshwater lake called Hornsea Mere. This attractive lake is a haven for wildlife and many species of water birds find their way to this beautiful spot that is almost entirely enclosed by reeds and woodlands. It is a serene place, where often, not much can be heard but the gentle call of the birds and the waters as they lap the edges of the lake. It is an essential part of your visit to this pleasant little coastal village where you will also find a museum that tells about local history.
