About Poyntington
This is a delightful small village situated in the picturesque Blackmore Vale where the Dorset and Somerset boundary meets. It is a quiet peaceful place surrounded by rural countryside, lying but a short distance from the larger market towns of Yeovil and Sherbourne.
The focus of the village is historic All Saints parish church. Another landmark is Dorset Down Mushrooms, these famous mushrooms have recently become a delicacy served on the menu of several noted local country inns and restaurants.
The village retains its wonderful "Dorset" character, showing a pleasant mixture of properties from several periods. Of interest close-by is the Fleet Air Museum and Lyte's Cary Manor, a national trust property at Kingsdon.
