About Burton Bradstock

This in one of the most enchanting villages to be found along the sweeping Dorset coast. It has gorgeous little lanes where there are eye catching thatched cottages with walls covered in rich foliage. There is even an atmospheric thatched pub, warmly inviting after a strenuous day on the beach searching for fossils!

The River Bride runs close to the village of Burton Bradstock, which is to be found at the western end of the wide lagoon bordering the great bank of pebbles forming Chesil Beach.

The beach is attractively bordered by cliffs, its sands are strewn with fossiliferous limestone, often the result of cliff falls. Above, the soft springy turf makes an ideal vantage points for spectacular sea and coastal views.

A few shops can be found in the village, together with comfortable Bed and Breakfast establishments, a caravan park and a couple of hotels.

The hinterland beyond Burton Bradstock is well worth exploring, here you can find many of Hardy's pretty Dorset villages hidden amongst rich green hills and grassy valley's.

The bay between Burton Bradstock and Eype Mouth is popular with boating enthusiasts and The Dorset Coastal Path runs through the village.

Burton Bradstock makes an idyllic location for a quiet weekend, or a longer stay to explore all this rich heritage coast has to offer.
