About Grand Western Canal Country Park
Located in the heart of Devon, the Grand Western Canal Country Park eleven and a quarter miles long, with the canal following the natural contours of the land, meaning it has no locks. The canal slowly flows through a mixture of agriculture land, small woodlands, and embankments which provide beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Along its course you will see not only beautiful natural countryside, plants and animals, but also man-made historical features such as stone bridges designed by John Rennie the famous bridge builder (London Bridge being his most famous work), and nine original milestones. Other activities to be found in the country park include walking, boating, angling, cycling, picnics and horsedrawn boat trips.
