About Gidleigh
The small wooded village of Gidleigh stands in superb wooded countryside at the heart of the Dartmoor National Park. It is enviable for its peace and tranquillity, and is possibly best known for the picturesque timber-frame black and white manor house that in recent years was converted into the acclaimed Gidleigh Park Hotel.
Gidleigh has all the delights of rural living, the bubbling River Teign, unspoilt leafy lanes with pretty Dartmoor cottages and an ancient church. It is perfect countryside for rambling, cycling or horse riding.
The village is within easy reach of Chagford, Castle Drogo belonging to the National Trust, several scattered hill-forts and many of Dartmoor's famous scenic parts and attractions.
