About Pleasley Pit Country Park
Pleasley Pit Country park is a reclaimed colliery site, which now offers nature lovers the chance to see record numbers of different species. There is a bird hide that overlooks a large pond where you can get to see Moorhens, Coots, Mute Swans, Mallards and a variety of waders. Other ponds support various insect life including a record 18 species of dragonfly that have been recorded. In contrast to the country park, there is the remaining pit buildings which are a scheduled monument.
