The small town of Butterley is best known for its Heritage Steam Railway. Not only do you have the rail line but there is also an interesting museum with a fascinating range of railway exhibits and a shop for souvenirs.
Butterley lies just north of Ripley, it is within easy reach of the lovely town of Matlock and close to all the attractions of the Peak District National Park. It is also within a short distance of the famous Denby pottery factory and showroom
