About Seatoller

Once upon a time this village was the centre of a prosperous mining industry but all that was in the 17th and 18th-centuries. These days, Seatoller, set in one of the most beautiful and exciting landscapes to be found in the lakes, gains its prosperity as a centre for climbers and walkers, who from here, can ascend to the Sky Head Pass. All around is lush countryside, however the area suffers from a higher than average rainfall, but maybe this accounts for the many sparkling little streams, flourishing heathers and the density of trees in hues of gold to green.

To the south of the village is the National Trust property Seathwaite Farm, where a grove of yews were immortalised forever by the poet William Wordsworth. The Seathwaite Valley runs at the southern end of Borrowdale, and Seathwaite itself is a farming village.
