About Wolsingham

This is a lovely village lying on the edge of the North Pennines in an area of great scenic beauty. It is a wild and beautiful landscape dotted only by scattered farms with meadows full of grazing sheep and cattle.

The region has maintained its character, this can be seen in the pleasant range of typical Pennine cottages and houses of the village which also has a few shops and friendly pubs. Walking is the main interest around these parts, but most holiday makers demands can be met as the region provides facilities for swimming, golf, fishing, pony trekking, and even a dry-ski slope can be found just a short drive away!

One of the most delightful aspects of Wolsingham is Bradley Burn, a tributary of the River Wear lying high in the hills above the village. It is a peaceful location offering lovely walks with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Both Durham and Newcastle are within easy reach, both provide a larger range of shops, interesting museums, churches, and for those seeking entertainment there is plenty of nightlife.
