I sat on the stone step in my back garden the other week, surrounded by dandelion variations and there were so many different types of this sort of insect, the abdomen stripes are so many, wasps are similar but it's only on closer inspection you see the difference. A tip for people who are bothered by wasps: blow at them, they think it's a breeze and generally don't persist
