About Wendover
A saunter through this interesting town reveals an abundance of black and white timber frame cottages and houses that are incredibly well preserved. There are also several noteworthy inns of which the most picturesque is the Red Lion where Oliver Cromwell spent the night in 1642. Of the properties to be seen in the main street perhaps the most historic is Bosworth House which dates 17th-century.
Wendover, is a spacious town and situated amidst beautiful open countryside. The Ridgeway Path runs close-by and in the hills beyond the town there are some delightful wooded areas.
Local attractions in the area include several nature reserves and Pulpit Hill an ancient Hill Fort.
